Caussade Semences New Maize Concept in UK

UK - Caussade Semences, a farmer-owned breeding cooperative in France, are now bringing their Duo CS ® Maize concept to the UK after six years success with dairy farmers on the continent and trials on UK dairy farms in 2010.

“The concept is based on using two hybrids with the same maturity that have been specially selected to be grown, harvested, ensiled and fed together to give highly digestible fibre plus rumen-degradable starch and rumen by-pass starch,” said maize specialist Robin Turner.

Results from Caussade show consistency in maize silage and cow rations, a better feed balance and contentment in cows as the key to improved milk yields.

This is achieved by a better balance of digestible fibre and starch, and a more efficient use of the starch present. Less undigested grains pass through, and there is less risk of acidosis - leading to more productive, healthier and happier cows. In short, the Duo CS Maize concept puts the cow first, not the crop.

“We are now expanding our farm trials throughout the UK in 2011 and are looking for dairy farmers wanting to benefit from this new concept. We will monitor the maize crops throughout the season, provide expert advice from an independent nutritionist with free silage analysis throughout the winter,” added Mr Turner.
