FMD Breaks Out in Mozambique Cattle
MOZAMBIQUE - The country's veterinary officials have reported an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in cattle.

The World Organisation for Animal Health received an immediate notification yesterday, 30 September. According to the report, apart from cattle, sheep were also infected.
The outbreak occured at a farm Bilene, Gaza. A total of seven cases were observed, while 24907 animals showed signs of susceptibility.
The disease is affecting cattle of all ages and sex. Young animals are more affected. Lesions on mouth and feet are seen in all affected animals.
The two main causes of the outbreak are introduction of new live animals and illegal movement of animals.
The affected animals were moved illegally from the vaccination zone in Chicualacula district to Bilene non-vaccination zone. The animals are located in an isolated premises in Bilene district, the report states.
