The conference will provide a thorough supply and demand outlook for all major farm commodities, a review of farm income and finance, a study on risk management and a look at the overall economy and how it impacts agriculture.

“Farm Bureau members in all 50 states and Puerto Rico produce virtually every commodity you can think of, from alfalfa to zucchini, so it is vital for our economists and commodity specialists to have a solid grasp of the factors that impact the commodities our members produce,” said AFBF Chief Economist Dr. Bob Young. “In many ways, Farm Bureau’s Commodity Outlook Conference is like a crash graduate course in agricultural economics. Participants are guaranteed to learn something useful that will help them when they get home.”

Experts will present the situation and outlook for livestock, dairy, cotton, grains and oilseeds and cotton. Daren Coppock, president and CEO of the Agricultural Retailers Association, will present the outlook for agricultural retailing and distribution.

Dr Robert Genetski, who is well known for his research and advocacy of classical economic principles, will give the macroeconomic outlook. Dr Genetski has conducted pioneering research on the roles of taxes and their impact on economic prosperity. In the early 1980s, he correctly forecasted that tax cuts would end the nation’s economic malaise by boosting productivity and by helping reduce both inflation and interest rates.

There is no conference registration fee for Farm Bureau staff or members; however there is a $200 fee for attendees who are not Farm Bureau members. The conference will be held at the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel.
