Anthrax Reported In Slovakian Cattle

SLOVAKIA - A new outbreak of anthrax has been reported in cattle in the east of the country.

The veterinary authority sent an Immediate Notification dated 13 July to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

According to the report, seven cattle in a herd of 120 animals died at a farm at Sobos, Svidník in the region of Presov on 9 July. Infection was confirmed by bacteriological examination.

The last outbreak of anthrax in the country was in 1995.
