Native Breeds National Show At Dairy Event
UK - The Rare Breeds Survival Trust is staging a native breeds’ exhibition at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show, the two day specialist event organised by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers and to be held at The NEC, Birmingham on 7 and 8 September.

More than 100 entries are expected for the RBST National Show, which will provide the exhibition’s focal point for the best of native breed; cattle, sheep and pigs, competing in classes held over two days.
Alongside the judging an informed commentary will be given on the breeds about their commercial and conservation values. Breed society stands will also be exhibiting, providing information on the livestock and on how they can be used to produce high quality added value products. New this year is the introduction of a feed clinic specifically for native breeds.
RBST’s Sally Renshaw said: “Following last year’s highly successful inaugural event which attracted entries from over 30 eligible breeds of cattle, sheep and pigs, we are pleased to have the opportunity to once again stage our national show at the UK’s largest livestock trade event. The show will provide an opportunity not only for native breed enthusiasts to compete, but also demonstrate to the 14,500 visitors who attend what native breeds have to offer today’s agricultural industry.”
RABDF chief executive, Nick Everington commented: “We are delighted to host the National Show within the native breeds centre to promote the commercial benefits of these species, in particular their ability to manage land on extensive, low cost production systems.
“Visitors will also be able to find all the information they need to manage a successful smallholding from this one event, including the latest in nutrition, vet and medicine, rearing young stock, housing, grassland management, EID, and opportunities for diversification including renewables.”
