UK - The Environment Agency's decision to relax the rules on the spreading of waste, allows slurry and milk to be spread on frozen or snow covered ground and will prevent storage tanks overflowing.

This decision has been welcomed by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF).

We welcome the Environment Agency’s common sense move,” says RABDF’s vice chairman, David Cotton. “Even before the big freeze arrived and milk collection became impossible, farmers’ slurry pits and tanks were already up against it after the wet months towards the end of last year. However, we would urge farmers to remain conscious of their actions and the potential for any pollution the spreading may cause.”
