“These six individuals each have a unique set of skills and backgrounds that would make all of them excellent selections for the USDA Dairy Industry Advisory Committee,” Mr Johnson said.

“I commend USDA for assembling this important committee, whose contributions and recommendations will be vital to the success of independent dairy farmers across America.”

The NFU board of directors elected three producer nominees and three processor nominees.

  • Joaquin Contente, Dairy Farmer – Turlock, California.
  • Eunice Biel, Dairy Farmer – Harmony, Minnesota.
  • Arden Tewksbury, Dairy Farmer – Meshoppen, Pennsylvania.
  • Karen Olsen, Matanuska Creamery CEO – Wasilla, Alaska
  • Francis Thicke, Owner of Radiance Dairy – Fairfield, Iowa
  • Robert D. Wellington, Senior Vice President Economics, Communications, and Legislative Affairs, Agri-Mark – Lawrence, Massachusetts.

“I commend the department for assembling this committee to review farm milk price volatility, dairy farmer profitability and suggest ideas on how to address the challenges facing America’s dairy producers,” Mr Johnson said.
