Update on European Milk Strikes

EU - Monday 21 September saw the tenth day of concentrated protests taking place across Europe, showing the public how powerful and organised European dairy farmers are.

Setting hay on fire and pouring milk in front of the European Commission headquarters in Brussels, members of the European Milk Board handed over political demands to the president of the European Commission.

Poland and Alsace have joined forces with the strike demanding a reorganisation of the milk sector. In France, Switzerland, Austria and Germany farmers are blockading major roads and access to dairies with tractors and straw fires. Italy has blockaded the 'Brenner', 'Frejuspass' and 'Tarvisiopass' the main border crossings, with support from Germany and Austria.
