Senators Meet Dairy Company

AUSTRALIA - Represnetatives of the dairy company National Foods met with Tasmanian politicians in a bid to help heal the rift with the company's suppliers.

On the same day the suppliers travelled to Canberra to plead with teh government for higher milk prices, according to a report on ABC.

Liberal Senator Richard Colbeck described his exchange with National Foods as "frank", the report says.

He said that the company wsas "quite up front" about eh pressures of global prices and supply.

He added that if the company is to repair the fragmented relationship with its farmer suppliers, it neds to look at the prices it is paying for milk and to look at the relationship with teh farmers as somehting long-term, the report says.
