The Biggest Promotion of Milk in Years?

EU - New EU funding means the UK dairy industry will be able to spend about £9 million for milk promotion over a three year period.

The move follows the EU’s agreement to stump up just under one third of that amount for the campaign, says a recent FarmersGuardian news report.

According to the report, the advertising campaign is the latest initiative of the Milk Marketing Forum (MMF), which comprises the major milk companies and co-ops.

An application to Brussels was submitted via the Rural Payments Agency last November and a few weeks ago it became known the money would most likely be available, says FarmersGuardian.

This is a completely different tranche of money to the dairy industry funding announced by Defra last week.

Chairman of the MMF is Robert Wiseman Dairies’ marketing director Sandy Wilkie who said the new campaign would be the biggest generic promotion of milk seen in Britain for many years.
