Dairy Conference to Focus on Nutrition, Management

US - The Four-State Dairy Nutrition and Management Conference will be held 10-11 June 10 at the Grand River Center in Dubuque.

The two-day programme helps producers learn more about health, management and housing developments that can improve profitability, event organizers say.

The seminar starts with a session covering the sources of yeast and factors influencing yeast viability, along with hot feeding strategies to maximise milk yield and dealing with risk issues.

Themain conference will hear an update of the research at the University of Minnesota and presentations on the critical feeding periods and on moderate energy diets and forage for dry cows.

The second day will start with a breakfast session on DCAD balancing for lactating cows and the main session will look at housing cross ventilated dairy barns and new concepts on heat stress.

Event sponsors include the University of Illinois Extension, Iowa State University Extension, the University of Minnesota Extension and the University of Wisconsin Extension. Co-sponsors are Arm & Hammer Animal Nutrition and Diamond V.
