According to the USDA, Italian type cheese production totaled 332 million pounds, 1.0 percent below August 2007 and 0.1 percent below July 2008.
Usagnet reports that American type cheese production totaled 339 million pounds, 8.6 percent above August 2007 but 0.8 percent below July 2008.
Butter production was 116 million pounds, 4.4 percent above August 2007 and 1.4 percent above July 2008.
