GERMANY - Germany's Federal Cartel Office is investigating the Federal German Association of Dairy Cattle Farmers after the association initiated a halt of deliveries to factories, hampering the production of milk and dairy products in the country.Under German anti-trust law, calling for a boycott of businesses, resulting in an 'unreasonable' impact on the business, is illegal, a spokeswoman for the German regulator said.
The Association now has three weeks to make a statement on the matter.
German dairy farmers last week halted deliveries to factories to protest falling dairy prices. They are demanding to be paid at least 0.40 euro per litre milk, whereas they currently receive between 0.27 euro and 0.35 euro.
