‘Govt focusing on livestock uplift’
PAKISTAN - Governor Lt Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool has said the federal government has allocated Rs 11 billion for disease-free livestock and introducing new techniques for the marketing of meat and milk.“The protein-enriched diet is necessary for good health. Punjab produces 95 million cattle annually out of the total 120 million cattle in the country,” he said, adding that the province produced more than 320 million chicken annually.
Khalid said the government was making efforts to boost the production of milk and meat.
“Improvement in the living standards of villagers who keep cattle is inevitable for the development of the livestock sector in the country,” he said, adding that the National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) was struggling to achieve this objective by providing villagers with technical education.
