He was speaking at the inauguration of a meat store, Zenith Associates, on Friday. The governor said a project had been launched in collaboration with the Pakistan Dairy Development Board to meet nutritional needs of the country besides creating hundreds of thousands of jobs.

“The protein-enriched diet is necessary for good health. Punjab produces 95 million cattle annually out of the total 120 million cattle in the country,” he said, adding that the province produced more than 320 million chicken annually.

Khalid said the government was making efforts to boost the production of milk and meat.

“Improvement in the living standards of villagers who keep cattle is inevitable for the development of the livestock sector in the country,” he said, adding that the National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) was struggling to achieve this objective by providing villagers with technical education.
