Sick cattle to be slaughtered

ZAMBIA - The Ministry of Agriculture is to slaughter All cattle infected with the Contagious Bovin Pleural Pneumonia (CBPP) in Kazungula district.

The Ministry has also released K700 million to be used in combating the disease in the area.

Kazungula District Commissioner, Fred Siasuntwe said the government will compensate all the farmers whose infected animals will be slaughtered in the exercise.

Mr. Sisasuntwe said this in a statement to ZNBC News in Livingstone.

He said other measures to control the cattle disease include the construction of a cordon line along the boundary of Sesheke district and Kazungula.
