![]() Hi Everyone,
I came across this site looking for information on cow tracking and tagging. I work in Salford Quays in the UK (14 years now as an IT manager). We write software for tracking cows and buffalo which is what led me to this site as I am fairly new in this particular field (so to speak). I look forward to reading more as time goes on as somebody looking to gather more information in this area. Keep up with good work. ![]() Welcome Mark, are you more interested in electronic tagging as is being enforced by the EU, or the more traditional embossed tag with holding number of farm of origin recorded?

![]() I sometimes wonder why peple come on to sites like this - make one post [an interesting one] and then not reply and develop their theme.
Oh well...... |

Has anyone thought about improving RFID tag retention? This is a great article on RFID tag retention, gives great tips, some you might not have thought about. http://livestock-id.blogspot.com/201...retention.html |

![]() Rena, if just 5 of us would keep several topics going, others will join in, it takes a little time, but the secret is a commited core of regular posters. I try to open up discussions with topics I think might stimulate debate, but usualy I get too little response.

![]() I am a member of several cattle sites, but would really like to see a UK based site get up and running, the pigsite keeps reasonably busy, so I believe sooner or later this site will "take off".
Jon spends quite a bit of time here, so there are the three of us to discuss some interesting topics which others will find interesting enough to join in. |

![]() I think electronic tagging is more efficient than traditional tagging.

![]() Tracking cows is very important if you are in animals business because it's lost every time in lacking of such activity. Tracking built for rugged terrain RFID, since the outbreak of mad cow disease, it has become crucial in animal identification management.
