Print This Page EU to Allow Sale of T-Bone Steaks as BSE Threat Eases
EU - The European Union may allow the sale of T-bone steaks from adult cattle for the first time in four years after judging the risk from mad-cow disease has declined. The EU outlawed the meat cuts, containing a segment of vertebral column, in 2001 because the bone was judged to increase the risk of consumers catching a fatal human form of the cattle illness. Stricter controls on feeding and slaughtering animals have now reduced that threat to an acceptable level, the European Commission said today in Brussels.To continue reading this article please click here
