Welsh Uptake of Bluetongue Vaccine 'Disappointing'

Speaking in the Senedd on Tuesday, she said that while in South East Wales some 85 per cent of the 1 million doses of vaccine made available in the area since June 27 had been administered, uptake in the rest of Wales had been “disappointingly” low.

“Since becoming available from September 1 in the remainder of Wales – and despite an intensive communications campaign by the Government, farming unions and other stakeholders – as at September 15 only 1.36 million of the 7.5 million doses had been taken up by farmers in Wales and that includes the vaccine used in South East Wales,” she said.
